Goostrey Scouts’ fundraising received a welcome boost last week from a generous donation from Goostrey Rose Day of £2,000 towards the new Scout Hut and Youth Centre – bringing the total raised so far to nearly £68,000.
This follows the £800 which was raised from the Rose Day teas organised by Natalie Gomes [pictured with Scout Leader David Giles], who with Isabella Smith, organised the teas on Rose Day.
Christina Burgess, Chair of the Rose Day Committee said: “Goostrey Rose Day Committee is pleased to make a donation to the new Scout Hut and Youth Centre. We wish to play our part in supporting the creation of this much needed new facility for local young people.”
Group Scout Leader David Giles wished to thank Rose Day and the whole community for their continued support.
The recent car wash at the Crown Inn in Goostrey raised a further £500. David said: “I pay tribute to the enthusiastic team of Scouts, leaders and parents who braved sunshine and showers to make cars sparkle and raised so much money by their hard work.
Having raised £68,000 to date through an active fundraising programme, we are now in the process of applying for grants to meet the expected £200,000 build costs of the new facility.”
