Donation boosts new hut fund

After the scouts organised for J K Ashbrooks Plant Hire and Groundworks contractors to demolish the old youth centre last month, James Ashbrook and family have donated £1225 towards the fundraising for the new building.  The new Scout Hut and Youth Centre will be built on half of the site with the other half up for sale by the Parish Council for the construction of a new house.

Group Scout Leader, David Giles said: “On behalf of 1st Goostrey Scouts, Goostrey Guiding and all other youth groups in the village, I wish to put on record our great appreciation of the commitment shown by all members of Goostrey Parish Council to the Scout Hut and Youth Centre project, and for funding the demolition and clearance work.  It was the icing on the cake when James Ashbrook and family made such a generous donation of £1225 to the fundraising effort for the construction of the new building.  It is remarkable how many local organisations and businesses are pulling together to help to make our dream of the new Scout Hut and youth centre come true.”
