The proposal for six homes at Swallowdale, behind the Red Lion pub off the bridle path, has been opposed by Jodrell Bank Observatory: 16/3633C (19th Sept update: the application has now been withdrawn)
“In the case of the proposal 16/3633C, we oppose this development. Our view is that the impact from the additional potential contribution to the existing level of interference coming from that direction will be minor/moderate. This is a general direction in which there is already significant development close to the telescope.
We would ask the planning authority to take this in to account in reaching its decision on this development, noting that the cumulative impact of this and other developments is more significant than each development individually.” JBO 16/9/2016
Notwithstanding JBO’s opposition GPC have also objected as the site is outside the Settlement Zone and in Open Countryside; the target date for a decision is 19th Sept 2016 under delegated authority.
Since early August 2016 a total of 43 houses have been refused permission in Cranage and Twemlow following opposition by JBO, with a further 10 still to be decided in Cranage and 6 in Goostrey. (Swallowdale 6 withdrawn)
