Trading Post burglary: witnesses sought

After the disturbing burglary at The Trading Post officers from Crewe CID are appealing for witnesses to come forward; did you see anything?

At approximately 7.30pm on Saturday two masked men entered the store on Booth Bed Lane during opening hours.

One of the men then jumped over the counter and stole cash from the till before he damaged the store’s CCTV system. The second man walked behind the counter and searched the storeroom at the back of the shop. Both of the men then fled the store in an unknown direction.

The first suspect is described as about 5ft 6ins tall, of slim build with a Liverpool accent. He was wearing a full-face balaclava, black gloves, denim jeans and a dark blue jersey-type jumper.

The second suspect is about 6ft tall and of slim build. He was also wearing a balaclava and dark clothing.

Detective Constable Gail Burndred said: “Investigations in relation incident are ongoing, and we are currently following a number of lines of enquiry, including CCTV analysis and forensics. While the victims in this case were not threatened, they have understandably been left shaken as a result of their ordeal, and we are committed to doing all we can to trace the people responsible.

As part of my enquiries I am keen to hear from anyone who believes that they have any information which could assist the investigation. I urge anyone with any information to contact the team here at Crewe on 101, quoting IML 211605 or by going online at cheshire.police.uk/contact/general-enquiries.”

Information can also be reported anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
