Cllr Graham Lenihan’s funeral 11th Dec

Goostrey Parish Council: You may be aware that Councillor Graham Lenihan sadly passed away on Friday 30th November, after a short illness.  We send our sincere condolences to his wife and family, and hold them in out thoughts at this difficult time.

Graham was elected onto the Parish Council in May 2011 and sat on most of the Council’s committees during his two terms of office.  He had a warm personality, an affable nature and a great sense of humour and was always ready to volunteer for Council duties.

Graham was involved with a number of Village groups including the Goostrey Parish Archive Group and the Gooseberry Society.

He will be greatly missed by us all.

Graham’s family has asked that we publish the date and time of the funeral which will take place on

Tuesday 11th December 2018 at 11.00am at St Luke’s Church, Goostrey.

Everyone is welcome to attend the funeral and after at the Crown to raise a glass to Graham and bid him a fond farewell.

Graham Lenihan

Scouts switch on Lights

As Christmassy lights start to twinkle throughout the village, last night, after a blessing by our vicar, Heather, the tree on the Bogbean was lit up for the festive period.

Well done to 1st Goostrey Scouts, sponsored by the parish council, for organising it all once again. Residents enjoyed rousing Christmas carols from the Rode Hall Silver Band while enjoying warming mulled wine and hot dogs as well as buying yummy cakes and biscuits from the Guides.

It was a lovely start to the build up to Christmas and Father Christmas was obviously the star of the show for many of the village children eager to meet him.

*Santa’s sleigh will be travelling through the western end of the village on Wednesday 5th (eastern end 15th).

*Scouts Christmas local Post; 30p/envelope. Place with payment in a bag in Goostrey News, Trading Post or Scout Hut by 13th Dec.
