James Patterson’s voice is considered one of the best on the folk scene, while John Dipper’s musicianship has been praised by the Sunday Times as “exquisite”.  James’ soulful, resonant and rich vocal delivery is underpinned by his intricate finger-style guitar playing.  John’s 14 string viola d’Amore weaves around the melody, at times joining the guitar, or harmonising with the voice, all the while heightening the atmosphere.

During the first half of the twentieth century a number of composers took a particular interest in the indigenous folk song of their native countries. A developing interest in this process and in the resulting “classical” arrangements led James and John to explore the possibility of reflecting them in a folk revival idiom.

Please join James and John for an intimate evening of music and discussion, exploring the diverse and inspiring folk song heritage that belongs to us all. Patterson Dipper
