Moving on, with happy memories

A little personal news for a change.  Martin and I have recently made a big decision to move from Goostrey in early October after 16 happy years here.  I shall therefore be relinquishing “LoveGoostrey” but am sure it will continue to grow as a handy community resource and source of village news.  (Happily another resident has already agreed to run it and I will wish them well when they take over.…more on that next month)

Since LoveGoostrey started the village has seen developers come and (mostly) go and the introduction of the Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Plan should help to preserve its shape and character in the future.  I’m proud to have been involved in a small way.

A big “thank you” to all who have followed the website and Facebook page (and Instagram and Twitter), who have sent in details of events, who make comments and swop information and who share posts to spread the word. Also thanks to the Parish Council – volunteers who do more than we all realise on ‘our’ behalf for the village.

Goostrey is such a lovely village; full of groups, societies, clubs, events and activities to suit everyone (as well as many willing volunteers!) – surrounded by gorgeous countryside, greenfields and walks …and overlooked by our stunning, iconic neighbour at JBO.  We will miss it but at the same time Martin and I are excited to explore pastures new!

At least I can keep up to date by following LoveGoostrey!

  4. Janet, you’ve done a fabulous job in developing this website. It’s an invaluable community resource. Good luck to both of you in pastures new. We’ll miss you.

  5. Hi Janet, a massive well done to yourself, and to Martin for all that you have done via Love Goostrey for our village over the years. It is an excellent resource for the village, and invaluable in our seemingly ongoing battle against unsustainable development. You leave a great legacy and vital resource for the village in Love Goostrey. Hopefully the new Editor will do you proud. Thanks so much to you both!!! The Very Best of luck with the House Sale! – Dave Johnson, Twemlow
