Planning minister Brandon Lewis says details of the government’s new policy of “automatic planning permission” on brownfield land will appear when the Housing Bill is published in October.
Labour shadow Roberta Blackman-Woods asked, What steps is the Government taking to ensure such developments encourage brownfield development, involve sufficient affordable housing and infrastructure and ensure quality and space standards?
“We will publish details about how the policy will operate when the Housing Bill is introduced,” responded Mr Lewis to the questions.
“This will include how further technical details will be agreed, and arrangements for securing essential infrastructure and design quality.”
He also reiterated Government policy on a brownfield register and fund and housing zones.
The Housing Bill is expected to be published in October, so it appears likely the proposals will be launched without consultation. Brownfield Briefing
