She will be appearing at the festival finale at Terra Nova School on Sunday October 20th 2019.
The schedule for Goosfest 2019 is shaping up well, including a presentation by Iolo Williams, a Welsh
nature observer and television presenter best known for his BBC and S4C nature shows, who recently appeared on the BBC’s ‘Winterwatch’ series. Iolo is at Goosfest on Saturday October 5th.
The following Saturday October 11th features a stunning Elvis tribute act by one of the top Elvis
impersonators in Europe, complete with stage band and three backing singers in true Vegas style.
Goosfest Chairman Bill Ollier said: “The schedule for Goosfest 2019 is nearly complete, and we are
delighted to have secured such a talented and well-known performer as Barbara Dickson. Her concert will be a gala occasion and a prestigious finale to this year’s festival.”
With 17 Platinum and Gold albums to her name, Barbara is Scotland’s biggest-selling female singer, and is also a talented actress known for stage shows such as ‘Blood Brothers’ and for TV acting such as ‘Band of Gold’.
Her many well-known hits include several from top London musicals such as ‘Another
Suitcase in Another Hall’ from Evita’ and ‘I know him so well’ from ‘Chess’, recorded with Elaine Paige.’ Barbara Dickson’s Goosfest appearance is part of a national tour with Rab Noakes, a Scottish singer song writer whom she has known and worked with for many years. Rab has also had a long association with the band Lindisfarne.
But – although planning for this year’s ‘Goosfest’ festival of music and arts is well underway – the Goosfest Committee would like extra help.
One or two new volunteers are needed to join the Committee, and a few more Goosfest supporters are needed, who might not want to join the committee but who are able to help at the odd event or two.
“We’re a relatively small team of volunteers,” said Goosfest Chairman Bill Ollier, “and it would be great to have a few extra people to share the fun with!”
The Committee usually meets monthly, as each year’s programme evolves. Extra helpers are required during the festival itself, which this year opens on Friday October 4th and continues to Sunday October 20th.
“You don’t have to be a Committee member to help set up a venue, or go on the bar and refreshments rota, or help distribute the festival programmes and put up posters,” said Bill. “We’re just looking for extra help and it’s a case of the more, the merrier. And it doesn’t matter if volunteers haven’t been involved in anything like this before. We’re a friendly bunch of local people, who enjoy each other’s company and the fun of putting on something like this for local people.”
