The Bidlea dairy farm on Twemlow Lane has now branched out into dairy processing with brothers Ryan and Adam Brown opening the new ‘Bidlea Dairy’ – aiming to produce over 9,000 litres of free range, non-GMO*, milk every day. [*genetically modified organism]
Ryan and his wife Becky look after the herd and the milking parlour, from where the milk is transported across the road through a hermetically-sealed insulated pipe into the new dairy building. It then becomes Adam and his wife Becky’s responsibility to process the milk for delivery to customers across the county.
The Brown family have a long farming history and have been raising their pedigree herd of Bidlea cows in Twemlow since the 1960s. “We deliver milk to a range of customers from hotels, schools and farm shops and we’re starting to work with milkmen to ensure that local customers can get Bidlea milk”, says Adam. They plan to use Bidlea Dairy so that customers can actually meet the herd and see the dairy in action and become more closely connected to where their milk comes from.
