Fiona Bruce, MP for the village, told the Guardian she would be working closely with Jodrell Bank and Goostrey residents to fight proposals for the village.
“I’m standing with residents against further developments in and around Goostrey which would put wholly unsustainable pressure on local services and infrastructure,” she said.

The proposal for 60 homes at the Grange Livery made the front page of the Sandbach Chronicle this week. LoveGoostrey points out that this would be the largest development ever proposed so close to the Jodrell Bank Observatory and could well interfere with their work. Goostrey should be proud of our local ‘national icon’ and not want to jeopardise its operation, as a unique icon of scientific research.

Local MP Fiona Bruce echoes Goostrey residents’ concerns for a proposal of 60 houses at The Grange, saying “A large development anywhere in or near Goostrey is wholly inappropriate”. Sadly the parish council has a different view, declining to put forward smaller clusters to Cheshire East’s Site Allocations despite residents comments to the Local Plan.
