Consultation ends 26th Feb

Cheshire East Council is currently consulting with the community on the CHESHIRE EAST COUNCIL LOCAL PLAN: Development Strategy and Policy Principles (2 documents) which has identified the requirement for 27,000 new houses in the Borough.  click here to read Cheshire East’s press release.

BUT LoveGoostrey are concerned that this consultation process has not been widely publicised in Goostrey – despite the effect it may have here – and we would like to make residents aware of their chance to comment, before 26th Feb, and understand how it may affect you. We are very concerned that this Local Plan may result in significant development within the village.

We hope Goostrey residents will object to Goostrey being classified as a Local Service Centre, (on a par with Holmes Chapel)  it was ‘bumped up’ into this category despite not having the requisite ‘essential services’ due to its population of  3,770.  We feel this is an exaggeration as it would mean there has been an increase of over 75% since the 2001 census of 2201 rather than the quoted average of 5.2%.

MP Fiona Bruce states in the Middlewich Guardian: “In recent months greenfield sites across the constituency have been targeted by developers. Engaging in this consultation is hugely important as a contribution towards the development of a Local Plan which really will reflect the wishes and views of local people for the future development of our area, and to provide a defence against development in unwanted areas. This is the most significant and important opportunity which residents will have to shape our local communities for years to come. ……….”to protect local communities and cherished green spaces“.
