Cranage Chronicle’s Peter Wild dies

We hear that Peter Wild, editor of the crusading Cranage Chronicle, sadly passed away last night. He owned and managed allotments in Cranage that some Goostrey residents leased and also chaired the Residents Action Group against M6 noise and pollution.
Simon Moorhead – “Peter is frankly irreplaceable to the Cranage, Byley Goostrey & Lower Peover Community being so knowledgeable, thoughtful, determined and courageous in fighting the complacency & inadequacy of local and national government and the hypocrisy and failures and occasionally corruption in the local area. If anyone typified one man against the system then it was Peter!
Peter gave his time to the contentious matters, like the Cranage Paddock, the FP McCann Development and the Sibelco Quarry, and helped highlight the noise and pollution coming from the M6 which was picked up by national newspapers. All of this is on the Cranage Chronicle website.
My respectful and sad thoughts are with his wife & family. His son Steve has asked me to let everyone know so I will advise when his funeral arrangements are known.  I shall miss his dry wit & humour immensely.” Simon Moorhead.  (link to website: Cranage Chronicle)
