Goosfest 2020 – the two-week October festival of music and arts in Goostrey – has been cancelled due to uncertainties from the COVID-19 pandemic.
However, much of the schedule planned for 2020 has been lifted and re-booked for October 2021, when Goosfest organisers hope to run a packed programme.
Goosfest Chairman Bill Ollier said: “Unfortunately, the ongoing uncertainties around venue availability and continued social distancing meant that we had no option but to cancel this year’s Goosfest. Some of the performers had also indicated they would prefer not to perform this year.
“On the plus side, the majority of this year’s acts were able to confirm bookings for October 2021, so we’re now well on with organising next year’s festival, which will take place from Friday October 1st 2021, to Sunday October 17th.
“The decision to cancel Goosfest 2020 wasn’t taken lightly, but for all sorts of COVID-19-related reasons, we were left with little choice. We appreciate that there will be disappointment, and apologise to our many supporters, who were looking forward to booking tickets for some of the fantastic headline acts already announced. But we hope to exceed all expectations when we’re able to announce the full 2021 schedule in due course.”
