17th August 2017 Goostrey Neighbourhood Plan adopted:
Following the Referendum on 17th August Goostrey voted firmly in favour of their Neighbourhood Plan with 97.2% of voters saying YES! (Link to Plan)
A total of 858 votes, including postal votes, were cast; a 46.4% turnout of residents on the electoral register with a clear large majority in favour and 21 votes against. The plan will now be “made” by Cheshire East, it then becomes a statutory part of the planning system alongside the Local Plan. This means the Goostrey Neighbourhood Plan and its policies will be taken into account when all planning applications are decided.
Goostrey Parish Council formed a Neighbourhood Plan Committee and steering group in 2015 from within the Parish Council and residents.
Initially the Parish Council produced a “Future direction of Goostrey” leaflet with an initial questionnaire (see links below) for residents to express the needs and issues that are important to them.
July/Sept 2015: ‘drop in’ sessions. Followed up by the Main Questionnaire from the Steering Group in Oct 2015.
Oct/Nov 2016: The pre-submission version documents were available to view Neighbourhood Plan and Village Design Statement. Residents were able to comment through the link at :Regulation 14. after another Drop-in session.
June 2017: The consultation phase completed, Cheshire East sent the plan to an independent Examiner for review. As part of his review the Examiner made an unaccompanied visit to the parish.
**WHAT’S NEXT? A Referendum on Thursday 17th August when Goostrey residents will be able to vote for it to be officially adopted.
The Parish Council’s Neighbourhood Plan for Goostrey is now finished, approved by the Examiner, and will go to a public vote in a Referendum on Thursday 17th August when Goostrey residents will be able to vote for it to be adopted. If you will be away and can’t vote in person you can easily apply through the following links for a Postal Vote or a Proxy Vote but must do so by 31st July.
We would encourage everyone to vote “YES” for the Plan; designed to deliver the Vision via a set of Policies reflecting the views expressed by residents in the village questionnaire back in 2015 after the Parish Council first set up the Neighbourhood Plan Committee. See pictorial below.
You can read the full plan – click on the link Goostrey Neighbourhood Plan – which will only be adopted if more people vote ‘yes’ than ‘no’.
Paper copies are available for inspection from 3rd July in the Parish Office (01477 535825).
All residents of Goostrey Parish on the Electoral Register will be able to vote – the question will be:
- ‘Do you want Cheshire East Council to use the Neighbourhood Plan for Goostrey to help it decide Planning Applications in the Neighbourhood Area?’
Referendum is Thursday 17th August 2017 voting to take place at the Scout Hut and Youth Facility.
