Housing at The Grange could affect Jodrell Bank Observatory

Plans on view: Thursday pm 20th Feb, Goostrey Village Hall.

LoveGoostrey are concerned that housing, just 1 mile SW of the Jodrell Bank Observatory, could create unwanted electrical interference and set a precedent for future housing even closer to the Observatory which could potentially damage their research.

Last year the Jodrell Bank Observatory vigorously objected to the 13 houses further away at Twemlow Green despite the provision of electromagnetic screening but the proposed Grange 60 houses, the largest development ever proposed near the Observatory, would be in direct line of sight.

We as a village should be proud of the national treasure we have on our doorstep and have a responsibility to ensure that development does not cause a significant impact on the operation of this world class facility, shortlisted as a World Heritage Site.

Email fiona.bruce.mp@parliament.uk to ask if she can help protect the investment that the government made in 2008.

If Jodrell Bank Observatory would rather this development did not go forward as a recommended Site Allocation they should make immediate representation to Goostrey Parish Council, rather than leaving their opinions to the bitter end when it could be too late.
