From David Giles – Group Scout Leader – 1st Goostrey Scout Group:
We have an exciting opportunity for anyone interested in becoming an assistant Beaver leader in Goostrey. Beavers are our youngest members, and meet for an hour per week. They enjoy all that Scouting has to offer; being introduced to outdoor activities, having the opportunity to be creative, explore their local community and experience the excitement of a Beaver Scout Sleepover with their friends.
The Beaver Colony is the first and youngest section of the Scout Group. Beaver Scouts are young people aged between 6 and 8 years old. There is core flexibility in the age range: young people can join from age 5¾, and can move to Cubs between age 7½ and 8½. It may sometimes be appropriate to extend this flexibility for young people with additional needs.
Assistant Beaver leaders support the Beaver leader with the planning and running of the Beaver colony and normally volunteer one hour of their time per week on a regular basis and help with the organisation and running of events through the year. Enclosed you will find a role description for the position of assistant Beaver leader.

Goostrey Scout Group support equal opportunities for everybody and shall be pleased to hear applications from anyone regardless of ability, age, sexual orientation, ethnic background or religious belief. If you are interested in joining our team, please either speak in confidence to me or Sue Mottershead – Beaver leader, we would be delighted to hear from you and tell you about the fun and friendship of Scouting in Goostrey.
