LoveGoostrey would like to say thank you to all who took the time to comment on the consultation. 591 comments were sent in to object to Goostrey being classes a Local Service Centre, no-one wrote in to support.
Attached is the list of comments posted online, which shows there was a unanimous rejection of being classed as a ‘Local Service Centre’. We have had more comments about Goostrey than some of the other ‘Strategic sites’ in Cheshire East, which just goes to show the depth of feeling in the village.

Well, the first task will be to support the Parish Council and their planned production of a Neighbourhood Plan which will supersede the Parish Plan prepared nearly 10 years ago. This will implement the Local Plan and will give the whole village a say in terms of where any development should go and will help resist any unwanted speculative development. LoveGoostrey suggest as many residents in the village as possible come to the AGM on Tuesday 23rd April at 7.30pm in the Village Hall to meet Michael Jones, Leader of Cheshire East Council, and see whether he agrees to correctly classing Goostrey as a ‘Sustainable Village’.
We will keep track of the Consultation process and will continue to keep you informed. Please put your email address in the ‘ Follow LoveGoostrey ‘ box on the right so you can receive LoveGoostrey news updates.
The Local plan: Development Strategy and Policy Principles Consultation determined that Goostrey is set to become a ‘Local Services Centre’ and would therefore have more housing allocated to it than say a smaller ‘Sustainable Village’.
|Sustainable Village||A settlement that has a limited range of services and facilities, with opportunities available to access more sustainable transport modes, where limited infill would be appropriate to meet locally generated needs.|
