Since Love Goostrey began in 2012 it has become a centrepoint of the local media; bringing news, gossip, fun and events to the area. The site was launched by Janet Lardner-Burke nearly a decade ago and was taken over by me, Andrew Shanahan, when Janet moved out of the area. Having launched a new business during lockdown and following the publication of my first book, my work schedule has become unmanageable and I think Love Goostrey deserves the opportunity to grow with someone new over its next decade, so that it can continue to support the local area.
Since I bought the site it’s been a privilege to bring Goostrey its daily serving of news, fun and gossip. We now have a fantastic team who produce content for our readers across our blog, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter channels, giving a reach into the lives of over 4,500 local people, with 95% of Love Goostrey readers coming from within a 10 mile radius of Goostrey.
Love Goostrey have also launched the extremely popular annual scarecrow competition, which saw hundreds of local people having fun creating and hunting scarecrows and encouraging tourists into the area. At the beginning of the pandemic Love Goostrey also launched the Love Goostrey volunteers, who have now done more than 300 call-outs in the local area and been recognised for their work by the Parish Council.
The site has an unmatched reach into the homes of local Goostrey residents and is a trusted brand, which continues to do what it says on the tin – love and support Goostrey. As a business it would suit anyone who has the areas best interests at heart. With its local readership it also represents a real opportunity for a business who want to reach out and help inform the local community.
