Goostrey Tennis Club is based at the Boothbed Lane playing fields in Goostrey. The Club was established in 1993 when the Goostrey Village Hall & Playing Fields Foundation (VHPFF) – a registered charity – opened community leisure facilities at Boothbed Lane.
Membership is open to residents of Goostrey, Allostock, Cranage, Lower Withington, Over Peover, Swettenham and Twemlow, who are members of Goostrey VHPFF.
Goostrey Tennis Club welcomes players of all standards – from those looking for social and recreational tennis to those seeking competition in local leagues. The Club meets for social tennis on Wednesday evenings (6.30pm-9pm), Friday afternoons (2pm -5pm) and Saturday afternoons (2pm-5pm). If you are interested in playing, please come along on a Wednesday evening.
Regular informal American Tournaments and club competitions are held, plus social events such as an annual Quiz Night.
Goostrey Tennis Club is represented in the South & Mid-Cheshire Tennis Summer Leagues by two Ladies’ and two Mens’ teams, playing in both the Winter & Spring Leagues. To follow the progress of the Goostrey teams, please visit the League website.
The Goostrey Open Tennis competition, in which any members of Goostrey VHPFF can participate, has been held for more than 20 years and takes place during May and June.
There is an enthusiastic Junior Coaching programme, under the guidance of LTA Coach David Richardson, which takes place on Friday afternoons and Saturday mornings throughout the summer and special coaching camps are also organised during school holidays.
You don’t have to be a member of Goostrey Tennis Club to play tennis on the courts. As long as you are a member of Goostrey VHPFF, you can play tennis at any time when the courts aren’t in use for the dedicated Football and Tennis Club sessions. The dedicated Tennis Club sessions are:
Social tennis on Wednesdays from 6.30pm, Fridays from 2pm and Saturdays from 2pm.
South & Mid Cheshire League Matches on Tuesday and Thursday evenings
Also, when League or Club tennis matches are being played, there will always be one court available for general public use.
Please visit the Goostrey Tennis Club website for further information.
