Police seek info on Goostrey burglary

POLICE are appealing for information after a distraction burglary at the home of an elderly couple in Goostrey.
Between 11.30am and 12pm on Friday, October 13 a man knocked on the door of a home on Main Road.
The suspect said he was from the water board and entered the property before telling the victims there was a burst pipe nearby and he needed to run a tap in their kitchen.  While the victims were checking the tap, the man said he was going to check the radiators in the property but instead stole a large quantity of cash before fleeing the scene.
The suspect is described as white, in his 20s or 30s, 5ft 9ins tall, of stocky build with dark curly hair. He drove off in a white van in the direction of Chelford or Jodrell Bank.
PC Simon Knowles said: “We are asking for anyone who might have seen anything in the area at this time to come forward so we can catch this despicable thief who stole from a couple in their 80s.  Please do not let any cold caller into your home and always ask for ID if anyone calls.”
If anyone has any information about this incident please call Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 152 of the 14/10/17.  Alternatively you could call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Truly terrible to learn of this. So angry!
Although it can’t change what has happened, I know that United Utilities offer a password scheme, where you register a password with them so that if someone knocks on your door and they don’t know the password you can tell them to, er…go away.
    Visit: https://guest.unitedutilities.com/PasswordScheme
    Hope this helps…
