1st Goostrey Scouts have warmly welcomed the unanimous decision by Goostrey Parish Council at its meeting on 9 December to gift half of the site of the derelict youth centre to the Scouts for the construction of a new Scout hut and youth facility on Main Road Goostrey.
Group Scout Leader David Giles expressed his excitement and gratitude to the Parish Council “for the opportunity to deliver a purpose built modern youth facility in the heart of the village which will benefit generations to come.”
Goostrey Parish Council Resolution approved 9th Dec 2014:
Goostrey Parish Council approves in principle the transfer of part of the old Youth Centre site (as designated in the recently approved planning application) to 1st Goostrey Scouts for them to construct a Youth facility and Scout HQ (as specified in the planning application) for use by the Scouts and other Youth Groups in the village. The transfer is to be made at no charge to the Scouts but with each party being responsible for their own legal costs. In return the Scouts will undertake to construct the building as specified within three years of the transfer of the land.
As outlined in the planning application approved by Cheshire East Council on 30 October, the plan is for the other half of the site to be sold by the Parish Council for the construction of a single detached house, which will release funds for community projects in the village. 1st Goostrey Scouts 10 Dec 2014
